Stow yer swords, you swag-bellied haggards!! There'll be no killin' 'till I gives the word! Yeah, that's right. I have insane pirate lingo skills. You're jealous.
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. This movie was a blast, start to finish. Seriously, it was just fun as hell. I haven't sat in a movie and just laughed and felt all pumped up like that in a long time. I wanted to raise the Jolly Roger on my truck and ram people off the road, jumping out to stab them with my cutlass and take their shit.
I've always been really in to pirate culture and history. Is this movie completely historically accurate? No, not really. Is it an accurate portrayal of pirate life? No, not really. Does that have any bearing on the quality of the film and the fun to be had watching it? I say again, no, not really. However, it's a shitload of fun. The ships look great. The costumes are awesome. The lead female, Keira Knightley, is hotter than two rats fucking in a wool sock. What more could you ask for?
The highlight of the film is Johnny Depp. He plays Captain Jack Sparrow, a slightly crazy yet genius pirate. You want to see some great acting? Watch Depp in Pirates. He's fucking great. In real life, Depp is supposed to be a weird dude, so playing Jack Sparrow isn't a stretch for him. It's no wonder he's so believable.
I don't know if this is still in theatres or not, but if it is, get out and see it while you can. If not, you'll have to walk the plank!
